![]() To NOT be confused with the async compute at the cpu level as described here which allows the commands/tasks to be sent asynchronously to the gpu queues (without having to wait for a response). ![]() It is a hardware capability introduced by GCN cards (hopefully to be added through software/drivers for the nvidia cards) that allows tasks/shaders sent to gpu to be run asynchronously. None of the AMD cards have hw support for all feature levels and implementations like Raster Ordered Views and Conservative Rasterisation.Īnd while asynchronous compute by itself is a cool feature, it is not part of the core DirectX 12 api specification and is not part of any feature level as you can see here and here. When they say the 9xx have full DX12 support they mean the cards have hw support to all feature levels of Directx 12 API and they do.
